We want to continue the rich run of form

21 April 2017

Scunthorpe United boss Graham Alexander says both he and his squad head to Swindon Town this Saturday aiming to make it four successive league victories.

Alexander’s players come into the game off the back of wins over Bolton Wanderers, MK Dons and most recently Chesterfield, but the United manager is seeking another three points.

Speaking to The Iron PlayerHD, Alexander said: “We’re looking forward to the game on Saturday. We want to continue this rich run of form that we’re on.

“There’s still six points to play for before the end of the regular season, and we’re going to give it our best shot to win them.

“Swindon are of course desperate to win the points, but their motivation is no bigger than ours - we want those points.”

The Iron face a Swindon side who sit just three points adrift of safety and, with this in mind, Alexander states the task will by no means a straight forward one.

“We know of Swindon’s qualities,” he stated.

“They’re a similar opponent in terms of style as MK Dons. They’ve a lot of technical players who are good on the ball.

“We have to be wary of that, but we have to make sure we go there and perform to our maximum level as well.”

In terms of selection, Alexander revealed he’ll have the same pool of players to choose from, with Jordan Clarke not yet available after sustaining a toe injury.

“The boys that were missing will still be missing,” Alexander revealed.

“Jordan (Clarke) has still not recovered from his toe injury, and he’s having an injection to see if that will settle it down and get him closer to fitness.

“However this Saturday will be too soon for him.

“Apart from the long term injuries, everyone else is fit and raring to go. We’ve got good numbers at the moment, and enough to have a competitive squad.”
