The Iron’s Under-18 side were beaten 3-0 by their Rochdale counterparts at The Hawthorns in the Youth Alliance Cup on Saturday morning.
It was a disappointing first-half performance that proved Scunthorpe’s undoing on the day, as the opposition were clinical and scored three goals in the opening 45 minutes.
On the day, Rochdale performed better than the Iron. With young players, inconsistency can occur, but high standards are demanded and the players have proved throughout the season they can perform and produce some really good performances.
The key is to learn from this game, from a technical and tactical aspect. The coaching staff will pick the players up during the week, and show them what they did well and what they didn’t do so well.
They will then look to bounce back next week when they face Lincoln City at Appleby-Frodingham’s Brumby Hall home on Saturday, October 14th (11am kick-off).
