Report: Harrogate Town U18s 1-2 Iron U18s

15 April 2022

The Iron's Under-18s were 2-1 winners away at Harrogate Town on Good Friday.

United could have taken the lead on two minutes when Harrison Poulter got his head to a corner at the far post but he was on the stretch and could only direct his header wide of the goal.
Shortly after, Poulter went through one-on-one but forced a good save from the home goalkeeper.

After 13 minutes, the Iron went 1-0 up, as a run and a shot-come-cross from Harry Lewis fell nicely to Poulter at the far post and he finished it off.
On 25 minutes, United doubled their lead. Lewis went through against the goalkeeper, seeing his first shot saved but the rebound fell nicely to him and he made no mistake second time around.
On 35 minutes, Scunthorpe were well in our stride and Tyrell Sellars-Fleming smashed an effort against the post with the home keeper beaten.
In the second-half, Harrogate came back into it and pulled a goal back on 50 minutes when a trip in the box from Ben Pike allowed them to level from the penalty spot.
Academy manager Tony Daws concluded: "The second half was scrappy for us and, as you would expect, Harrogate got the momentum after scoring, but we managed to stay resilient and manage the game through to the end.

"We would have been comfortable if we had taken our chances in the game."
