Lewis scores as Under-18s beaten at Bradford

1 March 2022

A late three goal blast saw the Iron's Under-18s side eventually beaten 4-1 at Bradford City on Tuesday lunchtime.

In the first half, United managed to get ahead through Harry Lewis' 20th minute strike, as he got to the left angle of the 18-yard box and fired the ball across goal.

They had further chances to extend the lead, which was deserved on the balance of play, through Tyrell Sellars-Fleming either side of the half-time interval.

The hosts, who are top of the table and won their last ten matches, equalised in the 63rd minute when a cross came in from the right-hand side and their Number 7 was there to convert home at the far post.

Owen Foster made a good save on 65 minutes as one of their strikers went through one-on-one and he was forced into a stop.

Then, the United goalkeeper had to come off two minutes later after feeling dizzy after the ball smashed him in the face.

Scunthorpe had a good chance in the 70th minute when Sellars-Fleming played the ball to Charley Strouther, who cut inside and drew a good save from the home goalkeeper.

Then, five minutes later, Lewis put a good inswinging free-kick in from the right-wing, which was put in with pace but nobody could quite get on the end of it.

The Iron went 2-1 down in the 80th minute as a one-two was played and one of their players went through and scored.

They then made it three soon after as Bradford got in down the right side, put a cross in which was half-cleared and then drilled home.

The hosts then seized on a lapse at the end to score the fourth.
