Iron manager Nigel Adkins has decided not to appeal against Marcus Williams' sending-off in Saturday's home defeat to Crystal Palace.

The left-back was sent off for a professional foul midway through the second half, and while the boss felt he had a case, proving it was an entirely different matter.

Adkins didn't want to risk getting the suspension extended after making what the FA could view as a 'frivolous' appeal.

Speaking on The Iron Player, Adkins said afterwards: "Having viewed the video I think we've got a strong case. It was a very harsh decision by the referee.

"But on the other side of the coin we've got to make a decision on whether we can actually prove it,"

The ban is immediate, so he will sit out Tuesday night's trip to West Bromwich Albion.
