GRANT PLEASED BY IRON START

New United striker Bobby Grant is looking forward to making his home debut in Saturday's pre-season frriendly with Sheffield Wednesday at Glanford Park.
The Iron entertain the Owls bidding to make it four wins from four, but know it will be tough against a Wednesday outfit looking to bounce back from the heartbreak of relegation from the Championship last season.
And while they have a 100 per cent record so far, following victories at Bottesford Town, Brigg Town and Winterton Rangers, Grant says Scunthorpe need to do better when they take on the League One newcomers at the weekend.
He told The Iron Player: "The manager has told us if we give the ball away as cheaply as we did against Winterton in the league then we will concede goals.
"That would happen against Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town - that's the big difference to Winterton.
"We need to get our touches sorted out, pass the ball properly and hopefully get another good result under our belts."
Talking about whether getting a home win on Saturday is important or not, he added: "Results breed confidence. It doesn't matter whether it's a friendly or not. It's a results business and the lads gain confidence.
"If you're a striker and score a goal it builds you, the same if you're a defender and you keep a clean sheet," he added.
"We've just got to make sure we're ready for Reading on the first day of the season."
Grant has scored two goals in three pre-season matches so far and is really enjoying life at Glanford Park three and a half weeks in.
The 19-year-old continued: "It was a great feeling to score in my first game (at Bottesford) - no matter whether it's pre-season or a league game it's just good to get on the scoresheet.
"Strikers are judged by goals. It doesn't matter how they come but to score two in your first three games is a good feeling and I want to continue.
"I'm settling in great. The lads are fantastic and the training is great. It's a lot different to Accrington.
"We've had the balls out since we started. The gaffer wants to get it down and start playing.
"I'm sure the way the manager wants us to play will suit the team, and me personally."
